i watched far too much cartoon network in the late 90s so stuff like weasel, cow and chicken etc became classics to me in their own way

i pondered "looney tunes" but it seemed unfair to lump so many into one category, like you there are probably many that simply didn't spring to mind

i really disliked all that ren n stimpy type shows, i hated the art style, i hated the scripting. all those nick type shows just killed me. this would lead m to assume that you are slightly younger than me, but i thought you were older than me, lol

also, ulysses 312 was awesome, but didnt finish iirc, and was made by the french! boo!

The only Tom & Jerry worth bothering with are the ones produced by Fred Quimby, i.e. the original ones. Those are ace, the others are a bit cack

Donald Duck, but I stopped reading that years ago, so I don't have any favorite comic really. I read the occasional comic in the newspaper (DDuck, Dilbert, etc.).

It was actually French-Japanese The animation house who made it was also responsible for the Lupin III series and Akira.

For those of you who want a bit of nostalgia (and a bit of cheesy-AWESOME 80s intro music) the whole series can be found HERE in glorious Youtube-o-vision.

i've got ulysses on dvd, and some d&d, and trapdoor... and count duckula... and god knows what else strewn about the place (somewhere these is a shitload of transformers stuff, and the original G.I. Joe/action force movie, both the british and american dubbed versions, watching them both the dialogue differences are hilarious)

Lesssee what my memory can dredge up.

Trapdoor.
Dangermouse.
Count Duckula.
Bleach.
Deathnote.

Dangermouse and Trapdoor I have on DVD, Count Duckula is a bit of a cheat as I'm sure the only reason I remember it (at this point in the hangover) is because of this thread.
Bleach and Deathnote are both animes I was introduced to.

When my brain doesn't feel like it is stuffed with cottonwool I'll have another think back to my youth.

I loved the X men cartoons. And the Zorro ones.
Tom & Jerry is definitely in the top 5, and I really enjoyed the spinoff "tom & jerry kids" as some of the other characters were brilliant.

There are definitely lots that i'm missing but can't think of anything other than dragonball z which I loved when I was younger but that's anime and different to regular cartoons :/

I think Thundercats, Count Duckula, Bananaman, Transformers and Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles were my favourites as a kid.

I remember the Human Body being a brilliantly educational cartoon that was shown about 6am every day.

Also remember He-Man, Flash Gordon, chipmunks (hated them though), Rude Dog & the Dweebs, Dogtanian and does anyone else remember Telebots?

Also Pokemon

Oh shit, just had a strange memory. My very favourite cartoon, like episode rather than series, was a feature length My Little Pony, called something like My Little Pony and the Purple Ooze. Over an hour, kids movie. Whenever we went to the video store we got 2 movies, one for mum and one for me and my sis. Well, every time I'd want this one, so we ended up having to get 3.

It must have been horrible for my mum, watching (and paying for) me turning into a faggot in front of her eyes, but knowing it was the only thing that made me happy :O(

Heh, you're probably right. Though I'm annoyed; this was in the wiki:

Quote:
The combined failure of this, and the next DEG/Hasbro collaboration, Transformers: The Movie, forced their producers to make G.I. Joe: The Movie into a direct-to-video release instead of theatrical. However, the Transformers movie was later reassessed and has become something of a cult classic, whilst My Little Pony has, to date, not.
Those were my 3 childhood films :O(

So many things I damn near forgot about, and this thread thankfully reminded me .

Reboot was awesome. Cutting-edge 3D animation (back then) with characters taking part in REAL LIFE VIDEOGAMES DUDE. Any gamer kids dream.

I vaguely remember that Human Body one as well - is that the one where they had this great analogy about Immunisation, about how the shot would give the lil antibody things swords to fight off the evil germs? Classic!

Also fondly remembered were all the shows on Whats Up Doc? - Saturday morning kids TV at its finest BAR NONE. I could swear in one of the episodes of Taz Mania the father and mother Taz had a book labeled Kama Sutra next to their bed :S.

Sweet, sweet memories .

1. Alfred Joducus Kwak

2. Ovide en z'n vrienden

3. Wicky de viking

4. Atom Ant
(unfortunately i couldn't find the Dutch version. it's far more awesome in Dutch)

5. Dinoriders

Bucky O' Hare, Dexter's lab, Seabert, Smurfs (or Johan & Pierewiet), Ducktales, Animaniacs and Samurai Pizza Cats, Transformers could also be on #5.
